About
Currently teaching at the International Islamic University Malaysia.
My graduate thesis focused on the interplay of memory and history in the poetry of Ee Tiang Hong and Edwin Thumboo, both influential figures in Malaysian and Singaporean Literature written in English.
I am currently preparing for my doctoral degree in Islamic Literature, which pretty much means a LOT of reading. For now, I've managed to pinpoint several key areas including feminist reading of mystical writings, the feminine qualities of the Divine i.e. the Creative Feminine, and the Ideal Woman as portrayed/highlighted in the works of Al-Arabi and Ibn Farid.
I am interested in all things poetry and gender related.
